YOU SAY YOU WANNA STAY BY MY SIDE

It's that time of year, that bank holiday, that festival that gets everyone excited for and talking about.
I've been watching it on TV and am dyeing to go next year so here are some of my favourite moments from this near to ending annual summer duo festival (mainly of Reading).
Hope you're having a wonderful bank holiday weekend with the sun finally out again!

peace out

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE AGE OF EXPLORERS?

After watching so many programmes and movies that involved men and women dressed head to toe in beige, wearing three quater length trousers and shirts that were unbuttoned at least twice when I was a kid (and I'm not talking about Dora the Explorer who took a talking backpack with her wherever she went or some unrealistic shit like that), my holidays have been somewhat of an adventure. Starting in concrete jungle, Bangkok, then moving onto the jungles of Cambodia and the north of Thailand and soon ending at the beaches of Koh Samui in the south, I feel like I should be wearing a hat with corks on strings on the end of them. Back home in a week and a half in time for results day so I'll leave you with some photos taken on a bog standard digital camera so nothing too interesting but I like the first picture.

Hope you're having a great summer and not stressing out too much about exam results,

peace out

summer weekends

(Apologies for the lack of blogging for three weeks!)
Few photos of the other weekend which involved a skating trip and Grassroots, an eco music festival in Jersey. I'm on holiday at the moment and totally jet lagged but I'll keep you updated and take lots of photos. Hope you're all having a wonderful summer and making the most of the sunshine!

An Anchor Connects Us With The Ground

On my 20th day of the summer holidays and really don't know what to do with myself anymore. The other day I bought July's Dazed and Confused (a little late as it is usually released mid-month, the month before the issue month) in hope that it would keep me occupied for several evenings and days spent purely in my room/house/garden, and as always it never disappoints.
In the Summer Issue there's a two page spread that focuses on new and emerging Mancunian band WU LYF (World Unite! Lucifer Youth Foundation). They've recently released their debut album, Go Tell Fire To The Mountain which was entirely self produced, rejecting offers from established record labels, and by god is it beautiful. Concrete Gold is my favourite, yet it's hard to choose a favourite as their sounds are extremely interesting in each of their tracks. Ellery Roberts vocals almost contrast the instruments, though somehow it fits perfectly. It's rusty and husky which makes each track sound mysterious.

I'm eating in the Bedroom

Okay so I posted about them the other week and you may think I have an obsession, but this time it's not focused on their music yet how they dress. The Drums... probably the best dressed current band (as of course, The Smiths were dressed out of this world in the 80's) emerged several years ago. Originating from Brooklyn NYC, the band consists of: Jonathon Pierce, Connor Hanwick and Jacob Graham. Sadly in September last year Adam Kessler left the band, thus in the following pictures there may only be three band members. Jonathon and Connor are the primarily well dressed ones and I love their style. Jonathon loves his denim and from the 'The Drums meet ASOS' video he says 'Denim, I wear denim everyday'. What an excellent quote! On the other hand, Connor can be seen wearing battered trainers, oversized unbuttoned shirts with t-shirts and grandpa jumpers. Their style varies but it's a specific style that will always make The Drums who they are...along with Jonathons funky dance moves!

Enjoy the rest of the week,
peace out

SUMMER'S JUST BEGINNING BABY

Today is the first day of summer and even though the 'Summer Solstice Party' held at Stonehenge kind of gives me the creeps, I thought it would be suitable to celebrate in style and watch Wimbledon, eating strawberries and cream to accompany it.
Discovered the 'La Sardina' 35mm camera from Lomography today. They've kept on posting and tweeting concerning this amazing camera and has just been recently launched but I've never taken a chance to have look at it, though now I really want one! Inspired by sardine fish cans they would 'probably not look out of place in a vintage German harbour, but would look a lot better around your neck'. They are on my 'top items to have' list for the summer and at £60, it's a bit over budget for me for a 35mm yet manageable.
The Fischers Fritze is my favourite though there are several other ones. Which one is your favourite?

Dreaming Of Another World

Forgot to upload this photo with the others I took on my Olympus Trip 35 and found it again today whilst literally looking through all of the film photos in the house. A good way to occupy a rainy Sunday.
Anyways I took this because it's my favourite place in Jersey, especially on a bright warm day. It gives a French and Mediterranean feel to the Island and it's one of those places where you would imagine a content old woman knitting or reading whilst rocking on her rocking chair and this as the backdrop. Unfortunately it's not a house, though it should be converted into one, yet instead used uselessly as some storage for the Jersey Museum.

Also, I'd like to add that exams have finished and it's time to get your summer groove on! (Those who are still doing exams, I feel for you.) So I'll leave you with a song that's got me up and dancing for the past few days.

peace out

Pictures

Firstly I'd like to say that I'm super excited for Benjamin Francis Leftwich for Jersey Live.
The 'Pictures' EP is so so good and I'm literally indulging in it at the moment. A very good evening listen to enjoy and relax to, though it's all a bit cliche and his songs sound similar which is where my doubts at. Still very very excited!
Also, I got the film that I used in my OLYMPUS TRIP 35 developed today and the results were disappointing. It seemed like most of the frames were wasted and kind of boring but I do have several favourites that I'd like to show you. There weren't any effects apart from  a few that I breathed on the lens to try and produce a misty/faint effect, though it didn't really work.

Breathing on the lens slightly worked on this one...
...and this one
Finally completed moving bedrooms and this is the main display mainly photos and bits from magazines, including the top cut out films which says SAVE FILM...sadly had to rid of 'the' as it didn't fit in.

Hope your exams are going well!

I Wanna Riot

Ok, here's the deal. I've kind of lacked inspiration over the past month when it comes to clothes and shoes. There's loads of items that I've found over the net and wanted, though the amount of stores that ship to Jersey cheaply is on the down low. Exhibit A: Rokit charges £18 to ship here as Jersey is classified as International. Understandable as we're an Island, yet depressing. The shops in Jersey are limited for men. Charity Shops and Topman are the only real 'within the budget' stores and they're being unimpressive at the moment.
On the contrary, over the last several days I've had my eyes on a pair of Vans and bought them today as a treat. I've been slightly dubious about the colour (white) as they will, and there's no doubting that, get dirty soon, however I love them!

Leave you with an enjoyable video.
Hope you're all enjoying the half term break/week.

peace out

Life Is Simple In The Moonlight

If I've learnt one thing in life, life is definitely simple in the moonlight. I want to bask in the summer moonlight all night long and wouldn't ask for more.
Anyways, I just want to share with you all some lovely images that I've stumbled across. I get way too easily inspired. Just a little compilation of photo's that mostly have a warm feel and a pleasant evening atmosphere to them because whilst writing this I'm lying on my bed after a long day of revision and letting the limited amount of natural light flood in whilst it can, listening to The Strokes - Is This It.
