my ever growing attachment

My ideal Friday evening would be sitting either in a friends bedroom or mine, someone strumming on the guitar and just singing along to a song we all know the lyrics to. Yesterday was one of those evenings and it made me realise how simplicity and serenity can be so great. Who needs wild parties and dancing the night away (well we all do sometime, though every weekend is excessive)? Later on, the evening was well spent at the cinema watching a literal modern masterpiece - Black Swan. Some slightly odd scenes, though needed to be such a work of art. Anyways, this song made me realise how much I'm craving summer.
Summer is great. Summer is joy. Summer is love. Beach BBQs, beach strolling, blue skies + sunshine and patio seating restaurants. Sets off a warm fuzzy feeling, though summer is still a while away so daydreaming is allowed.
Apologies about these obsessive Summer Dreams!

The Queen of Newark

Barbara Kruger, an American conceptual artist is pretty darn inspiring. Much of her work involves taking black and white photographs and placing primarily white text upon a red background. Her text usually questions and relates topics such as feminism, classicism, consumerism, and individual autonomy and desire.
Advise you to check her out sometime!

a collection begins

Just a collection of images I adore and wish were mine, but aren't, so I can keep dreaming.

indifferent to the written wall

Exams have drawn to a close this week and it's time to start looking forward to the weekend, so a bit
of Small Black to get you in the mood. This emerging Brooklyn band has kind of got to me and I'm way
in love with this track, their most popular, yet the whole EP and their album (New Chain) is enthralling to the extent that it made me fall in love with them in a literal instant.
Check 'em out sometime!

PEACE OUT

'cause I'm Mr Brightside

Went out for a nice little walk today with the dog as it was sunny for once.
I've kind of been hyped about the summer and warm weather and now that some sunshine popped by, rather than the repetitive cloudy weather which has been present for the past month-ish, I got quite excited so decided to take a few lookbook pictures with my shoddy digital camera, though picknic always comes handy.
With the help of 10 second timer, which meant frantic 'getting myself ready', and my stack of Harry Potter books I got some rather nice ones.

PEACE OUT

my heart's been stolen...

Before I start, I give warning that you may think that I'm a stereotypical dreamer and all I want in life is to be rich and famous ect, but all of this is just words blurting out of my mind and the world-gotta-have-one-of-these- kind'a-people. So hear it goes...
My dream is to live in either LA or San Fran.
Yep, that's right, I said what the mainstream amount of people say.
I visited these two cities in the summer on my American Wild West/West Coast antics and absolutely fell in love.
San Fran doesn't get much sunshine, it's hilly which means that's the only exercise needed to be done and it's known as the Hippy Capital (though this can be considered as a good thing no?)
&
LA? Well the idea of glamorous, a-listed celebs roaming the city? FALSE. Downtown is mostly mexican-run with central market being packed each day, though a couple of miles away is the HYPED Beverly Hills and Hollywood. It's true, everything people say about Beverly Hills and Hollywood is true. The rich, the famous...it's pretty darn amazing (if you're well off that is). But even for those who live normal lives in this celebrity run area, a couple of miles west is the coast to spice up their lives. This is what I really fell in love with: Venice Beach, Malibu, Long Beach. Daydreams of walking along the beach on a sunny, yet cooler-than-day evening getting ready for a BBQ or beach-party. The thought is overwhelming...BUT the thought is short-lived and I can dream on. London for Uni times, then California after? POSSIBILITY

Anyways, you're probably tired of hearing this so I leave you in peace.
PEACE OUT.

winter decks.

A little long-winded post just on a pair of shoes but here it goes...

On my trip to London town, I discovered the perfect, literally, boat (or deck, whatever floats your boat) shoes.
It was love at first sight, even though I don't believe in that 'moohah' nonsense, but in this case it applies.
The story goes a wee bit like this...
I walked into the office on Kings Road and there it was, beyond the shoving and pushing people, sitting on it's perfectly anti-dust shelf. Too bad I snatched them and no longer did it live a life of being watched/walked    past/ ignored by converse and vans searchers. They were in my possession, my feet + those boat shoes = love.
Well that's a load'a crap.
So yeah, I snatched them for sixty squidies (crimbo money supplied this high budget), lugged them back home, hug them, love them and started wearing them. You may think...Winter? Boat Shoes? They do NOT match and be all critical, however they look just right with a pair of vintage lookin' jeans/mustard colour jeans.

PEACE OUT.

January 2, 2011

new year, new day.

It's that time of year again where everyone's HYPED about it being the new year and starting fricka' fresh all over again, forgetting all the contents and nonsense chit-chat from the previous year.
To me, this seems pointless? A New Year is just another day in my life (not to seem like a right ole' pessimist/sceptic here). For New Year's Eve there was this whole party planned until it had to be cancelled, however I ended up staying at home and boogy'n out with my wackster sister.
We ate soup.
We watched Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
We watched the fireworks in London (on tv of course).
We ate all the junk we could get out hands on.
And it was fun! (WE'RE JUST TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL, i know.)
But on a more serious note, i'm kind of sick of all this irony and people who say they want to have a good year and good kick start to it...when they actually go get 'para'd' and end up starting the new year on a hangover?

Enough of this sceptic talk.

HOPE YOU ALL HAD A LOVELY NEW YEAR AND HOPE ITS A GOOD 'UN!
(such a cliché, but must be said)

I wish I was actually at those fireworks in London...
one day.
