Life Is Simple In The Moonlight

If I've learnt one thing in life, life is definitely simple in the moonlight. I want to bask in the summer moonlight all night long and wouldn't ask for more.
Anyways, I just want to share with you all some lovely images that I've stumbled across. I get way too easily inspired. Just a little compilation of photo's that mostly have a warm feel and a pleasant evening atmosphere to them because whilst writing this I'm lying on my bed after a long day of revision and letting the limited amount of natural light flood in whilst it can, listening to The Strokes - Is This It.

WHAT A CURIOUS LIFE WE HAVE FOUND HERE TONIGHT

This post goes out to Jeff Magnum, lead vocalist and guitarist of 1990s folk/rock band Neutral Milk Hotel.
Even though he suffered from a nervous breakdown, he is a true role model. If anyone asks what my favourite band is, I now have an answer at the ready and it is definitely Neutral Milk Hotel. I have familiarised myself with them over the last year and today I've had a moment where all I want to do is play their second and critically acclaimed album In An Aeroplane Over The Sea and shout I LOVE YOU JEFF! out of my window. Even though this is a pretty much liberal society, that would be a little extreme. I am not interested at all in becoming a musician nor lyricist but it fascinates me, especially within this album, how Jeff Magnum is such a great lyricist. The album was mostly inspired by iconic Holocaust Victim Anne Frank and if you listen to the lyrics closely you can see the link, such as in these lyrics from the track named after the album:

And one day we will die
And our ashes will fly

from the aeroplane over the sea
But for now we are young
Let us lay in the sun
And count every beautiful thing we can see

However my favourite song from the album is Holland 1945 and this track is basically dedicated to the death of Anne Frank. (The lyrics aren't the most cheerful but they do convey Anne Frank's story in an ingenious way, using a variety of instruments)

The only girl I've ever loved
Was born with roses in her eyes
But then they buried her alive
One evening 1945
With just her sister at her side
And only weeks before the guns

And they dress well! I like their coats

Jeff Magnum looks kind of scary here (second in line) but still amazing!

Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea

Taking a little worthy break from the heaps of revision to redecorate my room. Just moving about some bits and bobs and filling lonely white spaces with any extracts found from magazines/newspapers/posters ect. Also I've moved the 'SAVE THE FILM' caption (refer to post in February - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) that took over the whole of my wall next to my bed to the top left corner. Redecorating really is quite fun, especially when you have a little extra time due to the Islands Liberation Day Celebrations. I've been searching the internet for some kind of inspiration and I've found some pleasing results, however for the present or for the future is undecided. It might even be never and that I'm just dreaming to have rooms like these - now that's the most likely option.

Everything about this corner of a room is making me envy whoever may own it. The cubby-hole shelf which is the center piece of it is amazing. Imagine filling your own in with anything pointless and random. I would definitely fill mine with collectibles such as mini figurines and place plants on top in fun pots. Yesterday whilst walking the dog, I came across this old woman who was watering her flowers and plants and one of the pots was of a lions head! Definitely wanted to ask her where she got it from.

My dream is to live in the wild and smell the fresh air of the pine trees that surround.
Living in a teepee styled bedroom surrounded by native american images and wearing animal jumpers all
day long... yeh that would be the life!

The English Riviera

Firstly I must apologise of the absence of blogging for almost two weeks! I've been caught up in heaps of revision and just haven't found time to blog. Anyways, I'm back so let's get down to business. I have so much to show and tell.
The first of May has been crossed off my calender which means the first day of summer has officially begun and now into the second day. Today I got my recently used Diana Mini film developed and I was rather impressed with the results. Most have a warm feel to them, yet the scanner makes them brighter than they actually are on print which is disappointing beyond belief! I made full use of the manual shutter that let's you create double exposures and also almost panoramic photos yet incredibly hard and precision is vital, something I kind of lack. Here are a few of my favourite ones...

Metronomy's new album is seriously beautiful and I stress that you give it a listen soon if you haven't yet. Here's one of the most hilarious songs I've heard in a while yet still listen-able. The lyrics may not be comic though the tune made me giggle first time listening to it. (This may sound quite strange but just wait until you listen to it!) there isn't a video for it as of yet and most likely won't though there is an acoustic version however it doesn't sound as funny and the electro parts sound off so here's an unofficial version.

That's it from me for now so peace out and have a good week!
